Choosing CBD

How to choose a CBD product

With such a wide range of CBD brands, companies and products to choose from, how do you decide which CBD oil is the most suitable for you? Like any product, there is never a right answer or best product to suit everyone’s needs – It really does depend on the individual.

King of CBD™ suggests looking at the criteria below, to help you make your choice.

CBD Strength/ concentration is measured in milligrams (mg). How many milligrams CBD does the product contain? You will find the listing on each label stating the amount of CBD. Usually this is shown as a percentage of total volume of the product. This then ranges between 10% to 26% of volume. So a 30ml bottle will have 300mg of CBD in it assuming 10% concentration/strength. Everyone is different with different needs and differences in their optimal serving size. We suggest you start with a low concentration. It's easy to immediately jump to a high dose but it may be unnecessary and an unwise decision from a financial viewpoint.

How much to take
Unfortunately the answer here really is "it depends". Commonly accepted wisdom is to start out with about 1-2mg of CBD every day, for about a week and ease your way up to larger doses until you find the daily CBD levels that work best for you. By then, you should start to feel any well-being and can adjust the dose up or down as needed. You can’t ‘overdose’ on CBD, and there are no known incidences of that happening so it’s easy to jump to a high dose but this may be unnecessary and a waste of money. However if the concentration is too low, you might not be getting the full benefits of CBD.

CBD oil can contain solvents, preservatives, additives and even herbicide, pesticide, and other chemical fertilisers. CBD oils are produced from Cannabis Sativa plants which are specially grown from hemp stalks seeds and leaves. Farming and manufacturing processes vary so if you want to avoid chemicals, look for organic products or those from non GMO industrial hemp.

Availability of certified laboratory tests is very important so that you see the precise CBD content in milligrams but you can also know the exact content of what else is in that product or that the product is free from metals, pesticides, or other contaminants. King of CBD™ is transparent about all the suppliers we work with and we have all the information accessible in one place to help in your decision making.

A lot of hemp is required for extraction and refinement to manufacture high quality CBD and the purer the oil, the higher the price will be. Avoid low-quality oils and find the most value-for-money brands and stick with them. If you are new to CBD it can be better to start with a lower concentration (and therefore more affordable product), and then move onto to something stronger. Like any leading online store, King of CBD™ will have special promotions on certain products and loyalty discounts for customers.

Product types

There are many choices in formats, which we look at below.
Oil Drops (Tinctures): Oil drops are taken by holding a few drops under your tongue before swallowing. Tinctures usually offer a stronger concentration of CBD than any other CBD products. Concentration can range from 100mg-1000mg.
Usage Advice: Place the drops under your tongue and along the cheeks and hold for as long as you can without swallowing the liquid right away.

Vaping: The effects of vaping CBD ELiquid don't last as long compared to other methods of taking CBD, such as Oil Drops, sprays or capsules, however the effects are felt faster. Ingesting CBD orally does still result in inconsistent absorption and a delayed effect.
Usage Advice: To vape CBD Eliquid you will need an e-cigarette, vape pen, or vaping mod. Heat and inhale the appropriate amount of vape oil in your choice of device.

Capsules: CBD capsules are a great way to add CBD to your diet as a daily supplement. It is much easier to take than tinctures. Capsules typically offer ~25mg of CBD. However as with Oil Drops, ingesting means the effects take longer to be felt but last much longer. They are also easier for an accurate dosage.
Usage Advice: Take the recommended serving of capsules as part of your daily supplements regimen.

Sprays: CBD sprays are usually the weakest in concentration among different CBD products. Typical concentration of CBD sprays ranges from 1-3mg.
Usage Advice: Spray one serving (or as needed) into your mouth. The serving size should be labeled on the bottle (typically 2-3 sprays). Use daily or as needed.

Balms & Creams (Topicals): More brands have started to add CBD into topicals, such as rubs and lotions. Always look for keywords on the product labels that indicate that the product uses nano-technology, encapsulation, or micellization of CBD. This means their solution can carry CBD through the dermal layers, rather than just staying on the skin.
Usage Advice: CBD infused topicals are recommended to be used as other similar body care products – use it when you deem necessary or for skin or muscle conditions.
